Itinerary
2013 Package Date April 21/22 *This package is designed for bicyclists that can handle a minimum of 14 miles. A road type bicycle is the preferred bike, although a hybrid may work for the shorter length ride. Your bicycle must be safe and in good working condition. Cooperstown does not have a bicycle shop; so unsure your bicycle is in good working order before arrival. We do have some spare parts in the clubhouse for those unexpected repairs. We will do our best to support everyone, but being able to fix a flat tire will be helpful. A seat bag with some spare tubes, CO2 cartridges or pump, and a basic multi-tool should be considered mandatory. Please note that we do not rent or have bicycles to use. You must provide your own bicycle.
For the truly adventurous, we have a couple of options you may wish to consider, to make this a long and exceptionally rewarding weekend getaway. On April 19/20 we are having a Homebrew Beer Camp package with brewer Roger Davidson of Council Rock Brewery. See our Homebrew Beer Camp under packages for full details. Maybe you’re a bicycle racer or want to try a bicycle race, have we got a race for you! It’s an early season race about 15-20 minutes from Cooperstown. It’s called “Check your Legs” and features a pretty challenging climb. It’s pretty low key and moderately attended. It is a sanctioned race and counts towards upgrade points. The race is the morning of April 21. For the September date, the Bike and Brew package backs up to the “Drops-to-Hops” race which starts and ends at Brewery Ommegang on September 28. It is an unsanctioned race held in conjunction with Brewery Ommegang and the Clark Sports Center. There is an “A” race geared towards experienced riders and licensed racers and a shorter citizens “B” race. It’s a fun and challenging race with a great after party at Brewery Ommegang.
