During these unprecedented times, we’ve had to adjust our daily lives but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the things we love. Help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep yourself and others safe by practicing social distancing when out and about. Enjoy these things to do in Cooperstown while social distancing.
Order take-out from your favorite Cooperstown Restaurant
While you may not be able to dine in at your favorite Cooperstown restaurant, most are offering take-out options to bring home with you. From American classics at Mel’s to tasty Italian at Nicoletta’s Italian Café, you’ll find something for everyone. New York Pizzeria and Maskots Pizza & Grill offer delivery options as well.
Plus, Cooperstown Distillery and Brewery Ommegang are providing curbside pick-up of your favorite beers and liquor.
Get your own local restaurant guide for take-out and delivery when you stay at The Inn at Cooperstown. Upon check-in, each guest will receive our local’s guide to restaurants offering food/beverage take-out.
Visit Otsego Lake
New York State Parks are open, and park fees are currently being waived by the state. So, as we head into summer with warmer days ahead, visit Glimmerglass State Park. The park rests just eight miles outside of Cooperstown, overlooking Otsego Lake. There are trails available for day hiking, sandy beaches for a relaxing afternoon, and beautiful views all around you. A favorite spot to visit is Brookwood Point on Otsego Lake. This 100-year-old garden offers a place for hiking, paddling, and beautiful scenery.
While the park is currently open, social distancing requirements are in place.
Get out on the water
Stay cool this summer and get out on the water with activities such as kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding. Need a kayak or a canoe? Visit one of Cooperstown’s local outfitters at Canoe and Kayak Rentals, offering three locations, one of which is just two miles from The Inn at Cooperstown at Brookwood Point. Or visit them at Glimmerglass State Park for rentals.
One of our favorite things to do in Cooperstown while social distancing is biking. Spring through fall, biking in Cooperstown is a great outdoor activity that most anyone can enjoy. From road biking to mountain biking, there is a path for everyone.
When you stay at The Inn at Cooperstown, guests get direct access to our Big Ring Bicycle Clubhouse here at the inn. Our clubhouse is outfitted with all the amenities a cyclist would need, including secure storage, maintenance stand, tire pump, and more. After your ride, be sure to come by the clubhouse for a cold beer or sports drink from our stocked fridge. It’s a great way to spend a day in Cooperstown.
Clark Tower Trail
Take a breath, or two, of fresh air with a hike along the Clark Tower Trail. The 3.5-mile trail offers minimal elevation gain, making this an easy hike the entire family can enjoy. Note there is no true parking at the trailhead, so hikers must park along the road.
Play a round or two of golf at one of several golf courses in and near Cooperstown. Our golf courses offer exceptional links, green grounds, and stunning vista views. Both Leatherstocking and Otsego golf courses are open to the public. Find the course that’s right for you and start planning your round of golf.

Order some cider to go from The Fly Creek Mill. Inside the mill, the store is currently open where shoppers can find everything from freshly made fudge and maple syrup to delicious cheeses and jams. And for when you are at home, they even offer a virtual tour of the mill.
