Marc and Sherrie Kingsley
In May 2003, Marc and Sherrie Kingsley, formerly of Saratoga, New York, purchased The Inn at Cooperstown. With a desire for business ownership and a love of travel and hospitality, the Kingsleys began their search for an inn in February 2002. After months of research and education, they decided that The Inn at Cooperstown and the beautiful village of Cooperstown met their criteria.
Marc and Sherrie bring a wealth of diverse business experience to this venture. Both are graduates of one of the nation’s leading innkeeper training programs. Marc Kingsley, originally from the Syracuse area, is a veteran with 10 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He has held leadership positions at high-tech manufacturing companies in Albany, New York and Atlanta, Georgia. Sherrie Kingsley has over 25 years of experience in Information Technology. Her skills in customer service, sales, marketing and management are a result of the positions she has held with one of the largest computer corporations in the world as well as several regional technology firms in upstate New York. The Kingsleys continue to operate this historic hotel at the high same standards established by the former owners.
Under the Kingsley’s ownership, annual improvements are made to The Inn. Dramatic changes were made to the front desk area and all common rooms to accent the interior architecture and provide for a higher quality guest experience. Once the first floor was complete, all guest rooms were updated with new décor including richer paint colors and new furnishings. In 2008, the garage apartment was removed from The Inn and replaced with 1,300 square foot 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury suite. The exterior of this private entrance suite was carefully architected to blend with exterior of The Inn. Other recent improvements include expansion of the rear guest parking area as well as covering the rear entrance ramp.
